Philippine National Police at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) arrested a Malaysian woman on Friday for allegedly possessing 15 kilograms of suspected 'shabu' (crystal meth). The seized drugs have an estimated street value exceeding P102 million, marking a significant drug bust at the country's main gateway.

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 12:47 a.m., Philippine National Police (PNP) authorities arrested a Malaysian woman at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City. The arrest occurred in the Arrival Lobby Custom X-Ray Area during an inspection conducted by joint operatives of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group and the Aviation Security Unit of the PNP Aviation Security Group. Authorities discovered approximately 15,024 grams (15 kilograms) of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) concealed in the suspect's luggage, with an estimated street value of ₱102,163,000 (over P102 million).

The suspect is currently under police custody and faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. She has been subjected to inquest proceedings as part of the legal process. The operation represents a significant drug interdiction at the country's main international gateway, preventing a substantial quantity of illegal drugs from entering the Philippine market.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the successful operation, stating: 'We will not allow our gateways to be used for illegal drugs. We will continue to intensify our vigilance.' He emphasized that the PNP will sustain intensified intelligence and interdiction operations, particularly in major entry points, to prevent drug syndicates from operating within the country. The arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between different law enforcement agencies at NAIA.

This incident is distinct from other recent drug busts at NAIA, including a February 2026 case where a Malaysian national was arrested with 16.526 kilograms of shabu worth ₱112 million by the Bureau of Customs at Terminal 1. The March 20 operation specifically involved the PNP's Aviation Security Group and focused on a female Malaysian passenger arriving at the airport. The successful interception highlights ongoing efforts to secure the country's borders against drug trafficking operations.
