Bill Clinton faces grilling on Epstein ties: 'I did nothing wrong. I saw nothing.'

Dating back two decades, former US President Bill Clinton faced hours of questioning from lawmakers about his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, vehemently denying any wrongdoing or awareness of Epstein's sexual abuse. He stated, 'I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.' This marks the first time a former president has been deposed in Congress over this matter.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton testified in a closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee on February 27, 2026, regarding his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The deposition took place at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County, New York, beginning at 11 a.m. and followed his wife Hillary Clinton's testimony the previous day. This marked the first time a former president has been deposed in Congress over the Epstein matter, and the first congressional testimony by a former U.S. president in over 40 years.

Clinton vehemently denied any wrongdoing or awareness of Epstein's criminal activities, stating in his opening statement released on social media: 'I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.' He emphasized that he had 'no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing' during their association over 20 years ago. The former president noted he often could not recall details from two decades prior, and criticized the subpoenaing of his wife as unfair since she had no involvement with Epstein.

The deposition followed prolonged negotiations and a subpoena issued in summer 2025 for an October 14 deposition, which Clinton skipped, requesting instead to provide a written statement. The committee insisted on in-person testimony, leading to a House resolution from January 21, 2026, recommending contempt charges against Clinton for non-compliance after multiple postponements. The questioning focused on Clinton's documented connections to Epstein, including flight logs showing he traveled on Epstein's plane at least 16 times between 2001-2003 and newly released Department of Justice photos from December 19, 2025, showing Clinton with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Hillary Clinton had testified on February 26, 2026, stating she never met Epstein or visited his properties, and called the probe a Republican 'fishing expedition' aimed at distracting from Donald Trump. The deposition coincided with the 29th anniversary of Clinton's alleged February 28, 1997, encounter with Monica Lewinsky. Video of both depositions is scheduled for public release later, with the investigation continuing to examine the extent of political and elite connections to Epstein's criminal network.
