Tindig Pilipinas, a civil society group, has withdrawn its second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, stating the move is to avoid procedural delays and to consolidate support for a third complaint that contains the same serious allegations.

Tindig Pilipinas, the civil society group behind the second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, announced on March 1, 2026, that it is withdrawing its case to support the third impeachment complaint instead. The group stated it would formally withdraw the complaint on March 2 during the House Committee on Justice's start of deliberations, aiming to avoid procedural delays and consolidate efforts behind the third complaint filed on February 9 by religious groups, priests, and lawyers. This strategic move is intended to streamline the impeachment process and reach the Senate impeachment court more quickly.

The third complaint contains the same serious allegations as Tindig Pilipinas' filing, accusing Duterte of betrayal of public trust, graft, and corruption involving at least P612 million in misused confidential funds. The allegations include plunder and abuse of power, with the groups seeking to ensure Duterte faces accountability without what they describe as "unnecessary legal delays." By withdrawing their complaint, Tindig Pilipinas aims to unite support behind a single, stronger case.

Tindig Pilipinas' second complaint was filed around February 2 and was endorsed by notable figures including Rep. Leila de Lima and Percival Cendaña, with Kiko Aquino Dee serving as co-convener. The complaint contained five articles of impeachment. After the withdrawal, three verified complaints against Duterte will remain active in the House of Representatives. The group emphasized that their decision was not intended to benefit Duterte but rather to accelerate the House proceedings.

Under impeachment procedures, if the complaints are deemed sufficient, Vice President Duterte will have 10 days to respond after formal notification. The consolidation of efforts behind the third complaint represents a strategic attempt by opposition groups to strengthen their position and avoid potential procedural obstacles that could delay the impeachment process in the House Committee on Justice.
