Controversial Pro-Hitler Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio Slammed for Lewd Remarks Against Curtis Sisters, Rep. Elago
Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, known for his admiration of Adolf Hitler, is facing widespread condemnation after making offensive and lewd remarks about actresses Anne and Jasmine Curtis, and Gabriela Rep. Sarah Elago. This comes as he defended another congressman, Bong Suntay, who is being sued for similar violations of the Safe Spaces Act. Lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc have called for an investigation into Topacio’s “vile” comments and urged the radio station hosting his program to review its content, igniting public outrage over misogyny and disrespect towards women in public discourse.
Controversial lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, known for his pro-Hitler views including displaying Adolf Hitler's portrait in his office, sparked widespread condemnation in March 2026 for making lewd and misogynistic remarks about actress Anne Curtis, her sister Jasmine Curtis, and Gabriela party-list Representative Sarah Elago. The controversy erupted when Topacio defended Quezon City 4th District Representative Jesus 'Bong' Suntay on his dwIZ radio program after Suntay admitted feeling aroused by Anne Curtis during a congressional session and faced complaints from nine women for violations of the Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act No. 11313), Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials (RA 6713).
Topacio specifically targeted Jasmine Curtis and Rep. Elago for criticizing Suntay, stating 'He's a man. Let's not kid ourselves. Men have desires,' and admitted his own past attraction to Elago during her Kabataan party-list tenure. He also questioned Jasmine Curtis's bikini photos, implying they invited attention. The Makabayan bloc lawmakers, including Rep. Sarah Elago, ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio, and Kabataan Rep. Renee Co, condemned Topacio's remarks as 'degrading attacks,' 'harassment,' and 'abuse disguised in a suit and a law degree.' They called for an Integrated Bar of the Philippines investigation and urged radio station dwIZ to review its content, particularly during Women's Month.
The Gabriela Women's Party labeled Topacio a 'manyak na abogado' (perverted lawyer) and announced they were studying legal action against him for his misogynistic comments that undermine women's dignity in public service. Jasmine Curtis fired back at Topacio, calling him 'dugyot ka!' (you're filthy!) in response to his criticism of her bikini photos. The incident has highlighted ongoing issues of misogyny in Philippine public discourse and prompted renewed calls for the passage of pro-women bills in the House of Representatives.
Topacio's history of controversial statements includes previous defenses of his admiration for Adolf Hitler, whom he described as a 'great leader' and 'one of the most misunderstood historical figures,' while denying Hitler's role in the Holocaust. This latest controversy has intensified scrutiny of his conduct as a lawyer and public figure, with lawmakers emphasizing that his remarks reflect deeply ingrained misogyny and contribute to a culture that normalizes harassment against women in professional and public spaces.
