Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, a member of the House justice committee, has vowed that the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte will be transmitted to the Senate before the sine die adjournment of Congress. Ridon made this commitment during a press briefing following an impeachment hearing, emphasizing the constitutional requirement to complete the impeachment process within 60 session days. The House justice committee, chaired by Rep. Gerville Luistro, is currently evaluating whether the impeachment complaints meet the required standards in both form and substance.

As of March 2, 2026, the House panel found two impeachment complaints against Duterte to be sufficient in form, while setting aside the Makabayan filing. The formal impeachment hearing is scheduled to commence in the second week of April 2026, following the Holy Week. Prior to the formal hearing, the panel will send Duterte a notice granting her 10 calendar days to respond to the allegations. During the formal proceedings, the complainants, witnesses, and Duterte herself are expected to be present.

The impeachment allegations against Vice President Duterte include claims of betrayal of public trust, bribery, graft, and corruption, specifically regarding the improper use of P612 million in confidential funds. Additional complaints reference allegations of mismanagement and liquidation of confidential and intelligence funds, fabricated or inadequate documentation, failure to engage with congressional inquiries, and unexplained wealth. These allegations stem from various complaints filed against the Vice President.

The impeachment process follows a previous 2025 impeachment complaint that was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, triggering the one-year bar rule that blocked new complaints until February 6, 2026. The current proceedings represent renewed efforts to impeach Duterte that began in February 2026. The House justice committee has vowed fairness in the enforcement of rules throughout the impeachment proceedings against the Vice President.
