The House committee on justice is set to deliberate on impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte on March 2. She will be given a chance to respond, but her appearance is at her prerogative.

The House Committee on Justice is scheduled to begin preliminary hearings on four impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte starting March 2, 2026. Committee chairperson Rep. Luistro stated the hearings will run until March 4, 2026, with the primary purpose of determining whether each complaint is sufficient in form and substance. The committee will evaluate the four complaints separately without merging them, and may recommend dismissing some while advancing others that meet the required standards.

The four impeachment complaints were filed in February 2026 and contain various allegations against the Vice President. The first two complaints, filed on February 2, 2026 by the Makabayan coalition and progressive organizations, allege betrayal of public trust, misuse of โ‚ฑ612.5 million in confidential funds through falsified reports and receipts, dereliction of duty by refusing congressional oversight, admission of plotting assassinations against President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos, unexplained wealth, failure to disclose assets in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), and involvement in Davao Death Squad extrajudicial killings.

The third complaint was filed on February 9, 2026 by legal experts and church leaders with support from Rep. Leila de Lima, echoing similar allegations including confidential funds misuse. The fourth complaint, filed on February 18, 2026 by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera and endorsed by Rep. Bienvenido 'Benny' Abante and Deputy Speaker Francisco Paolo Ortega V, cites betrayal of public trust, constitutional violations, confidential funds misuse, threats against the Marcos family, bribery, abuse of authority, and asset non-disclosure.

All complaints have been transmitted to Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III's office and referred to the House Committee on Justice. The committee will follow a process where complaints deemed sufficient will advance to the plenary, giving Vice President Duterte 10 calendar days to respond, followed by 3 days for complainants to reply. The complaints reference evidence including Commission on Audit documents, congressional hearing records, Philippine Statistics Authority data, and testimony from former intelligence operative Ramil Madriaga regarding delivering funds to Duterte's security. This marks the latest development in ongoing impeachment proceedings against the Vice President.
