Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch set for September at Las Vegas Sphere
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are confirmed for a professional rematch this September at the Las Vegas Sphere, streaming globally on Netflix. This marks Mayweather's return from retirement and the Sphere's first professional boxing match.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have officially agreed to a professional boxing rematch scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The fight will be streamed globally on Netflix at no extra cost to subscribers, marking Netflix's continued expansion into live sports broadcasting. This event will be the first professional boxing match held at the $2.3 billion Sphere venue, which previously hosted UFC 306 in 2024 and features advanced technology including LED screens, spatial audio, and haptic seating with a capacity of approximately 20,000 spectators.
The announcement was made on Monday, February 23, 2026, with Filipino news sources ABS-CBN and Inquirer confirming the reports. Mayweather, who will turn 49 shortly after the fight, is coming out of a 9-year retirement and has a planned exhibition match with Mike Tyson in spring 2026. Pacquiao, 47, returned to boxing in July 2025 with a majority draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios and has an exhibition scheduled against Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18, 2026, at the Thomas & Mack Center.
This rematch follows their historic 2015 "Fight of the Century" at the MGM Grand, which Mayweather won by unanimous decision and generated over $600 million with 4.6 million pay-per-view buys. Pacquiao fought that bout with a shoulder injury, which he has cited as a factor in his loss. In official statements, Pacquiao said fans "deserve this" rematch and aims to give Mayweather his first professional loss, dedicating the fight to Filipinos worldwide. Mayweather responded confidently, stating "I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result."
The event is produced by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire, and Limitless X Holdings, with Netflix Vice President Gabe Spitzer calling it a "full-circle moment" that blends the legendary rivalry with Sphere's cutting-edge technology. While specific details about weight class, round length, undercard fights, and ticket information remain pending, reports confirm that negotiations for this rematch have been ongoing since October 2025. The fight represents a significant moment in boxing history, bringing together two of the sport's greatest modern champions nearly 11 years after their first encounter.
