An SUV involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured a motorcycle rider was allegedly seen entering Malacañang Park.

A hit-and-run incident occurred on Friday morning at the corner of UN Avenue and Quirino Avenue in Manila, where an SUV struck a motorcycle rider who was waiting at a stoplight. Witnesses reported that the SUV was speeding when it hit the rider, causing debris from both vehicles to scatter across the road. After briefly stopping, the SUV fled the scene, and witnesses followed it to Malacañang Park, where the Presidential Security Command (PSC) is located.

The victim was taken to a private Manila hospital and is currently recovering from injuries. Representatives from the Presidential Security Command visited the hospital to offer assistance, though neither the victim's family nor the PSC has made any public statements about the incident. The Manila Police District (MPD) has launched an investigation into the hit-and-run case.

MPD spokesperson Major Philipp Ines stated that the law applies equally to everyone regardless of affiliations, including police or military personnel. The driver could potentially face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in property damage and injuries. However, witnesses were unable to identify specific details about the SUV such as its brand, model, plate number, or the driver's identity.

The incident was reported by GMA News' '24 Oras' program, highlighting concerns about vehicles allegedly entering secure government areas like Malacañang Park after traffic incidents. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the SUV and its driver involved in the hit-and-run.
