Body found in Pasig matches description of missing Grade 9 student -- police
Police in Pasig City confirm that a body discovered in a private compound matches the description of a recently reported missing Grade 9 student, sparking a local investigation into the tragic incident.
The body of 15-year-old Isabelle Sophia Tablate, a Grade 9 student from Barangay Santolan, Pasig City, was found dead on March 23, 2026, inside a private compound or factory in the area. She had been reported missing since March 18, 2026, after last being seen around 5 p.m. at LRT Santolan Station following school in Quezon City. Her father, JR Tablate, had last contacted her via messaging app that afternoon, and she was reportedly wearing a gray spaghetti top, dark jeans, and white sneakers when she disappeared.
Police discovered her decomposed body hanging from a tree or suspended with a white nylon cord around her neck in a secluded area of the private compound. The family positively identified the remains, though authorities planned DNA testing and dental records for official confirmation. The discovery was made several kilometers from her home, with a nylon cord found nearby at the scene.
Pasig police chief Col. Hendrix B. Mangaldan stated there were no reported family conflicts, and initial investigations by the Pasig City Police Station, NCRPO, Eastern Police District Forensic Unit, and PNP Crime Laboratory found no immediate evidence of foul play. However, authorities are examining how she reached the site and reviewing leads including interviews with classmates and analysis of digital communications. NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo emphasized urgency in pursuing all angles pending autopsy results.
Authorities have formed a special investigation team to determine the exact cause of death and circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death. The family has appealed for public help in seeking justice, while police continue to examine all possibilities including whether she reached the location on her own or if other factors were involved. No suspects or conclusive findings have been announced as of March 24, 2026, with the investigation ongoing.
