Filipina seeks rape raps against foreigner she met online
After six years of silence, a Filipino woman has finally sought legal action against a Singaporean man she met online, filing rape charges at the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office. She alleges the incident occurred when she was 18, after meeting the suspect, Ricky Narwani, through an anonymous chat platform and later agreeing to a face-to-face meeting in 2020.
A 21-year-old Filipino woman has filed a criminal complaint against Singaporean businessman Narwani Ricky Ravin, alleging he raped her on January 27, 2020, when she was 16 years old. The complaint was filed with the Manila Prosecutor's Office, with the victim stating she met Ravin at a birthday party her mother attended. According to the complaint, Ravin lured the victim to a hotel room in Malate under the pretense of showing her a gift for her mother, then allegedly became angry when she refused to enter the bedroom, threatening "I'll hurt you if you don't go inside" before forcibly pushing her into the room, locking the door, restraining her on the bed, and sexually assaulting her despite her repeated objections.
The victim delayed filing the complaint for approximately five years due to her youth and limited understanding of legal processes at the time. A witness who was also 16 years old at the time provided a supporting affidavit, stating they observed the victim return from the room "visibly distressed, crying and trembling" and that she immediately disclosed the assault to them. After the alleged incident, the victim's mother attempted to contact Ravin the following day but found his phone unavailable and later learned he had returned to Singapore.
Ravin, who identifies himself as president of Mohan Customs Tailors based in Singapore, could not be reached for comment on the allegations. The complaint has been forwarded to the Office of the City Prosecutor for review and appropriate action. The case highlights the challenges victims face in coming forward years after alleged assaults, particularly when the accused is a foreign national who has left the country.
While the initial summary mentioned the victim was 18 and met the suspect through an online chat platform, the latest reports from Philippine news sources indicate she was 16 at the time of the alleged incident in 2020 and met Ravin at a birthday party. The complaint was filed in November 2025, approximately five years after the alleged assault, with the victim now 21 years old seeking justice through the Philippine legal system.
