Hillary Clinton testifies she has no information on Epstein's crimes
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before Congress, denying any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s or Ghislaine Maxwell’s crimes and stating she does not recall ever encountering Epstein, as part of ongoing depositions.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on February 26, 2026, in a closed-door deposition that lasted over six hours at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in New York. During her testimony, Clinton stated she had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's or Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes and did not recall ever meeting Epstein. In her opening statement shared on social media, she said: "I had no idea about their criminal activities. I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein," adding that she was horrified by their crimes like every decent person.
The deposition was part of a Republican-led congressional investigation into Epstein's operations, wealth, and connections to influential figures. Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Robert Garcia of California, reported during a break that Clinton answered all questions without pleading the Fifth Amendment and provided no helpful new information to the probe. The session was temporarily paused after a Republican lawmaker leaked a photo, prompting Democrats to push for public release of the video and transcript.
Committee Chair James Comer agreed to expedite the release of an approved video and transcript for transparency, though Democrats demanded a full unedited transcript within 24 hours. The investigation also examines U.S. Department of Justice claims of withholding Epstein files related to former President Donald Trump's connections, with potential questioning of Trump's former Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who admitted post-2008 meetings with Epstein despite prior denials.
Former President Bill Clinton was scheduled to testify the next day on February 27, 2026, marking the first time a former U.S. president would testify under subpoena. Neither Clintons face accusations of wrongdoing in the Epstein case, though Bill Clinton had previously acknowledged flights on Epstein's plane for charity work (not to Epstein's private island), and Hillary Clinton had interacted with Maxwell at Clinton Foundation events and Chelsea Clinton's 2010 wedding. The bipartisan probe examines Epstein associations, DOJ handling of his 2008 plea deal, and Clinton Foundation ties via released emails, amid Democratic calls to question Donald Trump about his own connections to Epstein.
